SACHIKO KODA
(幸田 さちこ)
Artist of "HAPPY COLOR MANDALA," a Meditative Art Form
Color Specialist: Happy Colorist®
Born and raised in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Sachiko was drawn to the colors of nature and flowers from a young age, which led her to the world of art. After studying dyeing and design at a women’s junior art college, she fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer, working for apparel companies like Onward Kashiyama.
Later, while balancing raising three children, she also worked as a flower and jewelry designer. During times of personal hardship, she repeatedly found that engaging with art and color healed her heart and opened up a path to a brighter future. This experience solidified her belief that “color and art have the power to guide people to happiness,” and in 2008, she launched her career as a color specialist, branding herself as a “Happy Colorist®.”
In 2010, she developed “Sachi-iro Nikki,” a color art therapy program, and organized workshops for parents and their children to nurture the five senses through color. As a color professional, she has supported over 1,000 men and women through personal color consultations and seminars at venues such as BMW showrooms and beauty salons.
In 2018, on the special day her youngest son came of age, she was inspired by the sparkle of a kaleidoscope, leading to the creation of her original art form, “Happy Color Mandala.” Using her unique three-dimensional dot technique, she creates works over hundreds of hours, meditating as she goes. These pieces bring a sense of peace and happiness to viewers and have garnered attention both in Japan and internationally.
In addition to her work as a painter, she runs a course focused on “how to live the second half of life and nurture your dreams” through the process of creating mandalas. She provides a space where even beginners can complete a mandala that reflects their own life journey within a year and exhibit their work at a top-tier museum.
Through her meditative art of “Happy Color Mandala,” she continues her mission of bringing color and happiness to people’s lives.
